THE STORY OF THE HORNY TOAD
Did you know the Texas Horny Toad is the official reptile of Texas? Yup! That’s right. Not the rattlesnake! Years back horny toads could be found all over Texas. However, because of a diminishing food supply (harvester ants), horny toads are rarely seen and are considered an endangered species. Some attribute the use of insecticides to the decline of the horny toad.

At the Horny Toad Café & Bar, our goal is to honor the Texas Horny Toad by doing things the way they were done back when horny toads were common - when restaurants made things from scratch from fresh local all natural ingredients. Much like the Texas Horny Toad, restaurants that approach food in an “old fashioned” way are an endangered species. With your support, we hope to change that fact! We proudly feature all natural meats, such as Texas Waygu beef, with no added hormones or antibiotics. Whenever possible, we also use local organic produce – just like Grandma grew in her garden with no insecticides. The cost is a little more and it certainly is a lot more work, but we think the quality and flavor are worth it. We hope you agree!
